Carrying an objection? Good. The Law of the Earth asks to be tested, not simply believed. Here are some of the questions people most often bring, with short answers drawn from the Law and the Blueprint.
Isn't law whatever the government says it is?
That is the most common assumption, and it is the one the Blueprint challenges first. Rules can be made by anyone with enough power to enforce them. Law cannot be made at all; it can only be discovered. No group can hand its representatives an authority none of its members possessed. If I don't have a unicorn, I can't give you a unicorn, and neither can a million of us.
Where does natural law come from?
From the same place Pythagoras found his theorem and Euclid found geometry: reason. No telescope, no committee, no vote. Just a mind willing to look honestly at power, choice, and consequence, and follow the argument wherever it leads. No one has privileged access to it that isn't equally available to you.
What does “benign sovereignty” mean?
Everyone is entitled to full sovereignty, so long as they are benign. A sovereign being may make any choice or take any action, as long as they do not commit real, material, and unjustifiable harm. The line between necessary and unnecessary harm must always be drawn through strict rationality.
Is the Earth Party a government?
No. The Earth Party has no power of force whatsoever. Its only authority is to organize voluntary effort, with the consent of every person involved. Upholding natural law is the job of a separate body, the Planetary Protectorate, which may use force only for that purpose.
Will the Earth Party tax people?
Never. Money taken under threat is force, and the Party has no access to force. Anything the Earth Party wants to build must be funded voluntarily.
Why would anyone build a better world without being made to?
Because if an idea is truly good, people will choose it. The requirement of consent is not a weakness in the plan. It is the proof that the alternative world is actually good, because people chose it.
