A Pillar of the Blueprint

Heal Yourself

Body, mind, and spirit.

A civilization is made of people. A sick people cannot build a sane civilization, and a poisoned mind has a hard time seeing clearly enough to recognize natural law, let alone uphold it. So the Blueprint begins its work where all work begins: with you.

This doesn't mean you have to finish healing before anything else can start. The Blueprint is not a ladder you climb one rung at a time. Natural Law is the foundation, and the pillars rise together, each one making the others easier. It is much easier to eat well in a village where fresh food is grown and shared. And it is much easier to build a village when the people in it are healthy, clear-headed, and at peace.

Heal the Body

Begin with what goes into it. Our ancestors had no phrase for "processed food." They ate what grew, what grazed, and what swam, prepared in their own kitchens. Today, much of what fills a supermarket shelf was engineered to be cheap to make, to last for months on a shelf, and to be hard to stop eating. None of those goals is your health.

A good rule of thumb: if your great-great-grandmother wouldn't recognize it as food, don't eat it.

What to Avoid, and Why

  • Seed oils (canola, soybean, corn, cottonseed, sunflower, safflower, and anything labeled "vegetable oil"). No one could make these in a kitchen. They are extracted in factories, usually with heat and chemical solvents, then bleached and deodorized so you can't tell what was done to them. They are far higher in omega-6 fats than anything a traditional diet ever contained, and they break down when they're reheated, as they are in every deep fryer. Cook with what people cooked with for thousands of years: butter, ghee, tallow, lard, olive oil, and coconut oil.
  • Glyphosate. The most widely used weedkiller on Earth, sprayed on fields of conventional crops and sometimes directly on grain just before harvest. In 2015 the World Health Organization's cancer agency classified it as "probably carcinogenic to humans" (IARC). Choose organic when you can. Better still, grow your own.
  • Refined sugar and high-fructose corn syrup. Sugar stripped from the plant it came in spikes your blood sugar, drives cravings, and has been tied to obesity, type 2 diabetes, and tooth decay. Fruit, raw honey, and maple syrup, in moderation, are the sweetness our bodies know.
  • Cornstarch and refined flours. Starches stripped of their fiber and nutrients, which your body turns into sugar almost as fast as sugar itself. They are the filler and thickener in a huge share of packaged food.
  • Ultra-processed food in general. A 2024 review in the BMJ, pooling studies of almost ten million people, found ultra-processed food associated with 32 harmful health outcomes, including heart disease deaths, type 2 diabetes, anxiety, depression, and early death (BMJ).

What to Embrace

  • Whole foods: vegetables, fruits, nuts, eggs, meat, fish, and dairy from animals that lived good lives.
  • Food grown in living soil, ideally by you or by someone you know.
  • Clean water, real sunlight on your skin, deep sleep in the dark, and daily movement, especially outdoors.

Heal the Mind

A healthy mind is not a mind that never struggles. It is a mind that can see clearly, think for itself, and tell the difference between what is true and what it has merely been told.

Much of what passes for information today is designed to keep you agitated, afraid, and scrolling. Notice what you feed your mind as carefully as what you feed your body. Spend time in silence. Read things that are older than you are. Learn to follow an argument to its end, the way the Law of the Earth asks you to.

And be patient with yourself. Many of us have been confused for a long time, by poisons in our food, our air, and our water, and by poisons in what we were taught. Clarity comes back gradually, like sight after a long time in the dark.

Heal the Spirit

The spirit heals in connection: with the land, with other people, and with whatever you understand to be sacred. It withers in isolation.

Put your bare feet on the ground. Watch a sunrise without photographing it. Sing, dance, pray, sit with friends around a fire. Forgive where you can, and make amends where you've done wrong. None of this requires anyone's permission, and none of it costs money.

Why This Is a Pillar

Every other pillar makes this one easier, and this one makes every other pillar possible.

A village with a shared garden makes fresh food the easy choice instead of the expensive one. A restored relationship with the land puts you back in the sun and the soil. A rekindled social life ends the loneliness that so many of us carry. And a healed people, clear in body, mind, and spirit, is a people that cannot easily be fooled, frightened, or ruled.

You cannot build a sane world with poisoned hands.
Begin with yourself, and you have already begun.
